News Aggregator Introduction

The news aggregator is a new feature that I've added to the website that automatically collects the latest news from leading news sources and presents them to you here so you can easily see the latest headlines from the different sources without having to wade through multiple pages at multiple news sites to stay current on relevant news. If you click on a headline in the list, that story at the specified news site will open up in a new window so you can easily read it. You can then close the window and continue through the list of headlines to the next one of interest.

This news aggregator will only display headlines that are potentially relevant to the topics of interest of this site. Specifically politics, U.S., world, business, and science. These are the categories of news that I think we should primarily stay current on to know what's really going on in the world. Topics such as sports, entertainment, travel, crime, etc. are certainly valid topics that may interest many people but they generally aren't critical matters that impact public policy. For that reason those headlines will not be displayed in the list (though they may occasionally slip by).

The latest headlines will be updated from the source news sites once every 30 minutes on the hour and half hour.

Currently the news aggregator is pulling headlines from CNN, Fox, and CBS. In the future I plan to add more sources of news and will also enhance the site so each visitor can choose which sources of news they wish to display and which they wish to ignore.

The headlines for the last 24 hours will be displayed, with the most recent headline at the top of the list.
